Emil Calusic is one of the pioneer DJs of German hip-hop. He started mixing in the mid-80s and played his first set in 1991 at the cult club »Das Unbekannte Tier«. DJ Emilio co-founded Stuttgart's »Kolchose« in 1992 and ran the city's most important hip-hop record store. He shaped the sound of the local scene and shared the residency at the 0711 club with DJ Friction in 1996. He helped the "Kopfnicker Records/EastWest" label achieve major chart success as an artist and repertoire manager. After two and a half years in music production and touring, Calusic took over the record store »Soundshop«. With »Fat Beats on 97«, he produced Stuttgart's first hip-hop radio show and, from 2001 to 2005, the Kopfnicker radio show on Big FM. The »0711RadioShow« on EGO FM ran until 2023 - a format he recorded with DJ Friction, DJ 5terTon, DJ Schowi and SUMO. Calusic also wrote about his experiences in the music scene for newspapers, blogs and books.
