Inspired by the composer La Monte Young, trumpet player Marco Blaauw founded the Monochrome Project in 2015. With a new repertoire, the ensemble, which sometimes consists of four to eight members, explores not only the enormous variety of trumpet sounds and their playing techniques. Also, the performance spaces, lighting, movement and costumes get skillfully staged into a synthesis of the arts. For the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik 2020 the compositions by Márton Illés and Justé Janulyté were created with reflect the theme Monochrome.
