Mezzo-soprano Sophie Harmsen is celebrated for her artistic work and appreciated for the constant expansion of her repertoire. After her beginnings at Cape Town Opera, Harmsen has presented operas as well as numerous concert programmes worldwide, including Richard Wagner's »Wesendonck Lieder« conducted by Kent Nagano, Antonín Dvořák's »Requiem« conducted by Philippe Herreweghe, and Beethoven's »Missa Solemnis«, both with Frieder Bernius and René Jacobs. Several of her CD recordings got prized, including the complete recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's »Luther Cantatas« under Christoph Spering's direction, which received the Echo Klassik 2017.
