Marie-Claude Chappuis

Mezzo-soprano

Mezzo-soprano Marie-Claude Chappuis studied singing at the conservatory in her Swiss hometown of Fribourg and then at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. After a period as a member of the ensemble at the Tyrolean State Theatre, then directed by Brigitte Fassbaender, she determinedly conquered the big stages, celebrating great successes in the company of renowned conductors, including Emmanuelle Haïm, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Riccardo Muti Sir Roger Norrington and René Jacobs. Her broad operatic and concert repertoire reflects in her extensive discography, which extends into sacred and folk music.
