Hille Perl
Gambist

It was love at first sight: At the age of 5, Hille Perl heard the viola da gamba in a concert, began lessons in the same year, and is today one of the most famous viola da gamba players of our time. Her musical range spans from the Renaissance to the modern era, focusing mainly on the 17th and 18th centuries. As an multiple ECHO Klassik awarded winner, she passed on her enthusiasm for this extraordinary instrument to her daughter Marthe Perl, with whom she can be heard in solo and ensemble performances as well as in a viola da gamba duo. In addition, since 2002, Hille Perl has devoted herself passionately to teaching as a professor at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen. With the socio-political relevance of art in mind, she pursues her guiding principle: to use music to connect people across all conflicts.
