Justus Barleben

Conductor

Justus Barleben has been assistant to the principal conductor at the Rundfunkchor Berlin since 2020 and has since been responsible for choral rehearsals for Vladimir Jurowski, Andrew Manze, Semyon Bychkov and Kirill Petrenko. The Hanover-based choral conductor and ensemble singer was a scholarship holder in the Conductors' Forum of the German Music Council and achieved 2nd prize and the audience award at the »9th International Competition for Young Conductors« in Paris in 2019. As a founding member of the vocal ensemble VOKTETT Hannover, he is a regular guest at renowned festivals such as the Bachfest Leipzig or the Rheingau Music Festival. In addition to his busy concert schedule, Justus Barleben is also active in opera and drama. Most recently, he appeared as conductor and ensemble singer at the Schauspielhaus Hannover in Bertolt Brecht's »Der aufhaltsame Aufstieg des Arturo Ui« and at the Kammeroper Rheinsberg as chorus director of the opera »Martha oder Der Markt zu Richmond«.
