Option 3B: LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN String Quartet No. 9 in C major, op. 59/3

Rejected and misunderstood was the Opus 59/3 – Ludwig van Beethoven’s third string quartet – counted among the »Russian quartets« not so much because of its Russian commissioner but rather because of its Russian character. With a completely new complexity, the three »Razumovsky Quartets« form a turning point in Beethoven’s œuvre. Next to Opus 31/2, 35, 55 – 59/3 stood significantly for Beethoven’s »new way«.
