The sixth festival week!

A multimedia dance theater retelling of the »Jungle Book« and another musical gem in the Ordenssaal

The sixth week of the festival is all about dance: we welcome theAkram Khan Company in Ludwigsburg and let us be carried away by the multimedia dance theater retelling of the «Jungle Book«! We won’t be able to sit still for long at the concert, which has been moved to the Stiftskirche Wertheim due to the weather, when David Orlowsky & Friends. Also relocated and due to the European Championship public viewings in the Marktplatz gastronomy in the Ev. Stadtkirche Ludwigsburg: the Free Air Music with the string ensemble Quelle SURprise.
We will be guests at the Alte Kelter in Bietigheim, where the SIGNUM saxophone quartet own arrangements of classical works works. And of course, another musical gem shines in our series of Ordenssaal concerts when Alexandre Kantorow performs romantic rhapsodies, character pieces and sonatas in his piano recital.

A dreamlike beautiful song cycle

While traveling, a young journeyman miller finds the love of his life. But suddenly his chosen one chooses another man – and the journeyman realizes that he has only been dreaming.

To make sure that the successful premiere of »Die schöne Müllerin« last Sunday was not just a beautiful dream, we are adding two more performances of Franz Schubert’s song cycle this week: in the baroque Schlosstheater, this highlight of romantic art song, performed by tenor Mingjie Lei and pianist Alan Hamilton, meets paintings by the sought after contemporary artist Norbert Bisky!

Concert in the Ordenssaal with Alexandre Kantorow

Expressive and versatile pianist Alexandre Kantorow presents the many facets of the Romantic repertoire in his recital – with Brahms’ Rhapsody No. 1 and the piano arrangement of Bach’s famous Violin Chaconne, complemented with music by Franz Liszt, Béla Bartók and Sergei Rachmaninow.

Unsurprisingly, the four-piece string ensemble led by concertmaster Gustavo Surgik creates an exuberant atmosphere with virtuosity and charm at our weekly »Frei Luft Musik« concert and is guaranteed to put you in a good mood! Due to the public viewing in the Markplatz restaurants, the concert will take place in the Protestant City Church.

SIGNUM saxophone quartet

Full of passion, the quartet takes up the challenge of giving the saxophone a little bit of missed classical music history. The four musicians dedicate themselves to their own arrangements of classical works by Haydn and Brahms as well as Glasunow, Piazzolla and Viet Cuong – and show us how much sound intensity and warmth there is in their instruments!

Intense moments with Akram Khans »Jungle Book reimagined«

On July 6 & 7, the multi-award-winning choreographer Akram Khan will take us on an immersive journey into a world that seems to have forgotten the essential connection between humans and nature and and our common need for belonging. Alongside the almost almost painful feeling of seriousness, which is brought to our hearts in the retelling of the »Junglebook« through the eyes of a climate refugee, Akram Khan reveals through dance, music and modern animations that in beauty and humor in every situation, but above all a spark of hope. is hidden in every situation.

»Tabula Rasa«

This is the title of the project that clarinettist David Orlowsky , together with guitarist Daniel Stelter and drummer Tommy Baldu, will be performing at the concert, which has been moved to the Stiftskirche Wertheim due to the weather. The atmospheric church provides the perfect setting.
